A Winter Kate jacket layered over a camisole and vest with House of Harlow 1960 accessories
According to WWD, Nicole Richie’s contemporary women’s line will finally be hitting stores February 2010. I’ve always loved Nicole Richie’s style (post-Hilton) including her accessibly priced House of Harlow 1960 accessories line. Thankfully, I don’t have to wait until I’m pregnant to wear her pieces (Nicole Richie for A Pea in the Pod if that didn’t make any sense).
Richie describes who her line is for and how I believe every woman should aspire to dress:
“She is a woman like me: She does not look at labels; she knows how to mix and match. The pieces can be dressed up, made casual, but most importantly, they provide the wearer a means of self-expression and fun.” -WWD.com

This past Monday I had the great opportunity to smooze it up with my fellow fashion bloggers at the Independent Fashion Blogger’s Dress Up Soiree! This is IFB’s second NYFW event and although it was a bit crowded (I don’t believe they anticipated such a HUGE turnout!) we all had a blast getting to meet each other in person – and of course show off our outfits =)
AnOther Magazine’s new Decade In Style issue is available one week before general release exclusively at Liberty of London from today. The Decade In Style issue features four different covers; Katie Holmes in Alaia, Kate Moss in John Galliano, Natalie Portman in Lanvin and Vanessa Paradis in Chanel, in a celebration of fashion over the last ten years.
To celebrate our instore event with Liberty reprobate YBAs Jake & Dinos Chapman have illustrated five £5 notes to be won by Liberty customers. Each person buying a magazine from Liberty will be entered into a draw, with a chance of winning one prized banknote from these iconic artists.
So we got our lil grubby hands on some Tracy Reese spring preview pics….im kinda liken it! Here is their offish release:
The Tracy Reese spring 2010 collection is a study of juxtapositions; the contrast between architectural and relaxed silhouettes, hard and soft, sheer and opaque. Femininity enlivens current wardrobes, with a focus on draping and ruching and modern embellishments. Intense color combinations, vivacious prints and multi-layered shapes inject Reese’s spring collection with positivity.
“To enter spring with a modern and upbeat attitude we used vibrant hues and the combination of architectural shapes and easy folds on drapey materials. A passion fruit surplice frock in a relaxed, draped silhouette with textural embellishment is the perfect piece to kick off the season with a look that is elegant with edge,” Tracy Reese, Designer and Founder.
The good folks that rep Rebecca Taylor gave us a sneak peek of her new TWENTY TEN SPRING LINE. Here is what they said:
The Rebecca Taylor girl for spring explores urban femininity. She works, lives and plays in the city. Towering printed sandals and architectural structured stretch dresses are softened with femme corset-inspired bustiers and flippy, fun, pull on printed skirts. Our girl likes to wear her boyfriend’s blazers and super soft cashmere athletic inspired sweaters thrown over top tiny leather skirts. Spring 2010 encompasses playful use of colors, prints and textures. The palette is intense with shades of big apple reds, shocking pinks, electric blues, and retro jades contrasted with desert tans and soft, peachy oranges. Sharper than seasons past, strong shoulders and a new, waisted silhouette enhance the look our girl wantonly craves.
So far this one’s my fave, definitely screams Blair all over it. I know, let’s be Gossip Girls for Halloween. Peep the slideshow and pick out your favorite character frock.
There are no words to explain how thankful I am.
What started out as an idea came out to be the best thing ever produced by iDR. Our Live Artist Summer Series started off as an idea to bring together up and coming artists in a social environment that friendly enough to the public as well as the art/creative community. As the series evolved so did our network. We have sold several pieces, atleast one in each show! We also cultivated an event that makes networking easier and sociable. Can you believe someone got an interview for a job at our event….now that makes every bit of stress worth it.
There are so many people to thank. Especially Orson Restaurant, they are beyond great…great to work with and great overall. They have an awesome staff that delivers great service! Honestly try their duck fat fries, its deliiiiish!
Thanks to all the artists August Photographers: Albert Lam, Jeffrey Dojillio, and Todd Posadas. July’s Multimedia Artists: Orly and JBoo. June’s Aerosol Artists: Wes Wong, Tenfold, Satyr, & Drama. Thank you to the Make Up and Hair Artists that worked on our models for the August Show, CHA and April. Thank you to our Models (Adeanna, Christina Cross, Elizabeth Moody, and Michelle Ruiz) that made our encore party HOT HOT HOT! Thanks to the DJs that rocked the house: Sake 1, Mr. Mention, and Mike Nice.
and Congrats to Groop Swoop for participating in our raffle giveaway! They won a 2 hour photoshoot including 60 illuminous photos with light retouching.
….until next time!
(the Aug video is in the work and will be up shortly!)
The ladies of DIMEPIECE have come together with fierce singer/dancer Cassie for their Fall 2009 Collection. Talk about womanhood! “Nine Lives” brings us an all black and white line meant to keep us coming back for more and more, so take out your claws and start fighting for your pieces.
Wendy from Nitrolicious gave us a first peek at the Hellz-Bellz and Vans collaboration set to release Spring 2010! What do you think about the The Hadley Zipper Sneaker and the Sophie Strap Flats? I think they’ve definitely opened the door to more consumers outside the typical Vans base – awesome!
How amazing is Stussy’s Fall 2009 Collection? It is perfect for the tomboy in us and still feminine enough to rock with a pair of pumps! Way to keep it classic Stussy with a military edge.
Similar to the Venetian glass work known as Millefiori – or “thousand flowers” – nail canes take your favorite nail design and make them ridiculously itty-bitty.
They start with a rainbow of clay polymers - stack, shape, assemble and sculpt until intricate images are created. The cane is then stretched and rolled until the diameter is almost non-existent. But, when the cane is sliced - SURPRISE!!! – the image remains in miniature
When budgets run tight – a nail makeover can be a guilt free indulgence. For a girl who can barely do her own manicure without shaking, sputtering, spilling and sucking . . .
”excuse me – could you pass me the nail polish remover please”
nail canes are pretty effing rad.
C’mon doing a plain ol’ clean polish job takes enough practice – forget about trying to paint a flamingo on top of all that and spending 4 hours letting everything dry. Nail canes have no drying time and ensure you get a perfect kerokerokeroppi or hummingbird on each and every nail. Find out more HERE
The 90’s are officially back, and I never thought I’d be be happy to welcome its return. Remember when we posted back in May ‘09 that the historic department store Henri Bendel was leaving NYC? Well now it has showed up in LA’s hot hot Beverly Center. Who knew?! Im so happy its on the west coast, but does that mean this department store was sniffing for new money? I suppose shoppers in LA don’t feel as ressionista as the rest of America. Well the store officially opens in November with its beloved premium priced goods and brands as well as their signature line of bath, home, and fragrances. Can’t wait!
