Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez (Proenza Schouler), Nathalie Rykiel (Sonia Rykiel) and acclaimed Paris-based producer Loic Prïgent hosted an invite-only event in celebration of the new Sundance Channel series, “The Day Before.”
The exclusive celebration included an advanced screening of Loic Prïgent’s “The Day Before,” which follows designers Sonia Rykiel, Proenza Schouler, Fendi by Karl Lagerfeld and Jean Paul Gaultier, in the frantic final 36 hours leading up to their runway shows. Following the screening, model-turned-DJ Alexandra Richards entertained the A-list crowd of celebrities and bold-faced names, among them some of fashion’s most influential designers, editorialists and about-towners.
Guests included celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe and assistant Brad Goreski, Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester, InStyle Managing Editor Ariel Foxman, V Magazine editor Christopher Bartley, designer Lars Nilsson, fashion industry staples Lynn Yaeger, Jen Brill, Lorenzo Martone, Julia Frakes, Jane Keltner, Becka Diamond and social-circuit regulars Cator Sparks, Chiara Clemente, Patrick McMullan, Victoria and Vanessa Traina, Lauren Santo Domingo and Julia Restoin-Roitfeld and Genevive Jones.

The original, four-part series airs as part of the launch of a multi-platform style destination inspired by the critically-acclaimed FULL FRONTAL FASHION franchise. “The Day Before” will cover the global fashion calendar – from Sonia Rykiel’s 40th anniversary celebration in Paris in October to Proenza Schouler in New York in February, Fendi by Karl Lagerfeld in Milan in March and Jean Paul Gaultier’s haute couture show in Paris in July – capturing influential designers at an intense period in time when creativity and commerce come together.
There are no words to explain how thankful I am.
What started out as an idea came out to be the best thing ever produced by iDR. Our Live Artist Summer Series started off as an idea to bring together up and coming artists in a social environment that friendly enough to the public as well as the art/creative community. As the series evolved so did our network. We have sold several pieces, atleast one in each show! We also cultivated an event that makes networking easier and sociable. Can you believe someone got an interview for a job at our event….now that makes every bit of stress worth it.
There are so many people to thank. Especially Orson Restaurant, they are beyond great…great to work with and great overall. They have an awesome staff that delivers great service! Honestly try their duck fat fries, its deliiiiish!
Thanks to all the artists August Photographers: Albert Lam, Jeffrey Dojillio, and Todd Posadas. July’s Multimedia Artists: Orly and JBoo. June’s Aerosol Artists: Wes Wong, Tenfold, Satyr, & Drama. Thank you to the Make Up and Hair Artists that worked on our models for the August Show, CHA and April. Thank you to our Models (Adeanna, Christina Cross, Elizabeth Moody, and Michelle Ruiz) that made our encore party HOT HOT HOT! Thanks to the DJs that rocked the house: Sake 1, Mr. Mention, and Mike Nice.
and Congrats to Groop Swoop for participating in our raffle giveaway! They won a 2 hour photoshoot including 60 illuminous photos with light retouching.
….until next time!

Bravos latest and greatest hit: NYC Prep has done so well that Kooba Handbags named their line after them! The bags named Blair, Blake, Kristie, and Logan. I’ve watched the show here and there…and its a guilty pleasure. While living in NY I had a private all girls catholic school next to me and the show isnt any different, all teenage girls in Manhatten have Chanel, LV, Miu Miu, etc. I was amazed. Prices for the NYC Prep Handbags go for 595.00
Our LIVE ARTIST SUMMER SERIES was an awesome night…nothing but great reviews from all the people that came out and supported to the wonderful staff at Orson. The aerosol artists were out in the front of the restuarant|bar|lounge so that the community, passerby-ers, and residents could enjoy. The artists were beyond talented, even Top Chef’s Master herself, Elizabeth came out to take pictures. Staff inside Orson came out to see what all the rave is about these artists, “amazing” is what they told me. Inside there were a lot of great conversations, networking, exchanging bcards, drinking, and of course eating (who couldn’t pass up those duck fries?). Goodie bags were quickly swept up by the end of the night. Everyone kept asking “is this a weekly, can I come back?“, well its not a weekly but we are continuing this series each month of the summer- July and Aug…so definitely come back, we’d love to see you! So we all drank, chatted, and ate until 10p which is beyond happy hour schedule, but who counting hours anyways?

Remember our post “Calvin Klein Jeans Commerical 2009, Spring/Summer” back when the commercial released? Everyday passer by-ers and located residents have grown tired of the “over the top sex appeal” in the Calvin Klein ads. So it was taked down and well apparently that racy advertisment is too hot and too much for SoHo and now is replaced by this :

The first generation of artists of the street scene in New York during the 70’s and 80’s, Blade, Crash, Daze, Jonone, Quik , Lee Quinones, Rammellzee and Sharp, will produce fresh works alongside their European contemporaries: Victor Ash, Banksy, Blek le Rat, Ikon, Sozy One and sculptor, Plateus who have since entered the pantheon. Important photographers who have documented rare scenes of the street art movement also will be represented in the show: Martha Cooper, Henry Chalfant, Jamel Shabazz and Silvio Magaglio.

The 114-year-old luxury department store, Henri Bendel, announced that it will stop selling clothing and focus instead on its accessories and cosmetics. For all of their existing items will be on sale at Gabay’s Outlet in East Village, New York. Gabay’s items are usually priced at 50% to 80% off retail! Who saw this coming? 114 years in the retail business, it is so sad to see the store go. Henri Bendel’s had a nice layout. The place was never too crowded and their interior felt upscale but friendly. I’ll miss their wrought iron accents, marble flooring and most of all their signature brown stripe awning.
All of Henri Bendels items such as Chanel, Manolo, and Jimmy Choos shoes, in addition to YSL and and Oscar de la Renta clothing will be there. *sigh*

What does a boring white, navy blue, and khaki company like Gap do to get you excited about their new line? They add of course another super fab designer to the collection. Alexander Wang and Vena Cava both collaborated on Gaps newest threads. Both are CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund nominees.
